Any hourly employee is welcome to attend the MONTHLY safety committee meetings.
our next meeting is SCHEDULED FOR
Drink water frequently. Anyone working in the heat should drink 16-32 ounces of water every hour starting at the beginning of their shift.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine. Avoid drinking soda, coffee, tea and other caffeinated drinks as well as alcoholic beverages because they dehydrate the body.
Seek shaded area. Taking rest breaks in a cool shaded area and allowing time for recovery from
the heat are effective ways to avoid heat illness.
Wear appropriate clothing. Whenever possible, wear clothing that provides protection from the sun but allows airflow to the body. People working in the sun should protect their heads and shade their eyes when working outdoors.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
In a nutshell, it's incorporating the five being habits into your daily routine while also addressing other factors that
impact your health such as completing a yearly wellness exam, and using safe work methods to keep your body
injury free.
HOW DO I START STRONG?
There are lots of ways! Making choices to apply the five being habits to your day equals starting strong. Joining in
DWU stretches prior to beginning your day is another way
to start strong. Adhering to SWMs throughout the day is
yet another way to starting off strong.
